Thank you for your great review of the all new Sony DSC-M1. :p

I know these new concepts like this or like Panasonic D-Snap are not the best for photography and not the best for video.
But good average.

Videocameras are too big, and not all features for great photos
Digital Still Camera haven't good features for make video.

To have D.S.C. + Camcorder is often too big, 2 chargers during your travel.... Sometimes for an events, you don't care from home the right item....
That's why, I think in the future, models like this PHOTO+VIDEO ON MEMORY CARD will be increase greatly in the electronic market !
Maybe the best will be MPEG 2 in the near future (?). But this Sony model have a MPEG4 with better quality than regular MPEG VGA.
I use only 2-3 times a year my camcorder, and this model will replace it for me !!!

A received an information from you, every record make a new file. On DV a new record is stick with the last record.
That's not great, with a DV, you plug your DV directly to your DVDRecorder (or VHS) and copy it on a DVD.
With this Sony, if you have 20-25 files during your holidays, how you make a continue movie ???
