Believe most all digital cameras can somewhat. If you want to check your T.V. remote just look through the EVF and press the remote's button. If the remote is working you will see a light...assuming the remote is pointed toward the camera :)

Most digital cameras detect IR to a certain extent .. it's really faint though, so if you actually want to take IR photographs, you'll have to put on an IR filter and then take LONG exposures with a tripod to get anything useful .. do a Google search for Infrared photography..
