I am interested in the Pentax 50-200mm lens. Does anyone have any experience with this lens? Yes, I know there is indeed a competing Sigma lens but I like Pentax lenses.

Good morning.... ;-)

How you doing Sarah?

That lens is still very new, and as yet is not available in Australia so I have not had a look at it yet...

From reports I have seen so far it has very good colour and contrast, although a moderate (not huge but could be noticable in some situations) amount of barrel and pincussion ditortion at each end of its zoom range..

It does seem to be sharp, there is a japanese site with sample shots that look amazing, if you click on the little thumbnails towards the bottom you can get full sized pictures..

I have been busy playing with my new toy, a Sigma 135-400mm, its big heavy and cost enough that I won't be able to afford buying the Pentax 50-200 for a while even if it does come out here soon. Although it will suppliment my big heavy long tele zoom when I want to travel light!!!

My Gosh, Yes, Sarah, I really am awake! Now what did you ask about....I'm sorry I can't really remember much any more. whatv was it you wanted to know??

Oh it was the Pentax 50-200mm lens. Yes, I know that lens. No, I have never used it, but does that really matter??

Another qualified answer!

Hi!,there!

I'm glad you've come to my web site in Japan.
I guess this high cost performance lens is useful for nature or travel photo.
The objects are taken sharp but gradation of background is soft.
I enjoy this "BOKE" taste very much.
