I just started a smugmug account and was curious what people thought of their print ability. Specifically, are you happy with their prints, and have you tried getting prints of pictures with different levels of quality to see how they compare? In other words, anyone notice a big difference in quality between a maxed out picture and one that you may have reduced in size for an easier upload?

Any info is much appreciated!

Wait around for George Riehm to get on. He will tell you.

I've only ordered one print from them, a 16x20. I was very pleased with it.

I have never ordered any photos from Smugmug. I believe that they used to use Shutterfly for their printing, but am unable to find any reference on their website about who does their printing. If they do use Shutterfly, I have used them in the past and was happy with the results. Currently, though, I have been either printing my own photos, or having them printed locally. I find this to be both cheaper, quicker and more convenient.

I used snapfish the other day and I was very pleased. The things I loved were, when you upload a file it shows you what your photo will look like cropped for various sizes of pics. We all know that digital crops a little funny compared to film. OR you can get true digital size/uncropped photos they are 4 X 5.3 instead of 4x6.

Another company I have heard rave reviews about is WHCC. I know lots of pro-am photographers that ue them as their lab, as well as digital scrappers and such. They offer a huge variety of products. I plan to do our xmas cards with them this year. They make proof contact sheets fom film and digital, have metallic paper as well as the others. There are really to many to go into, and their prices are very very good.
