OK, to my understanding, the XT is basically the North American version of the European 350D....

Are there ANY differences between these two cameras other than the sticker on the front?

I ask this because I see quite a few stores selling the 350D labled cameras for less than the XT stickered units

Are the accessories the same?

A couple months ago, I bought a Sony T7....

It was not yet available in the US through Sony, but the Euro versions had already hit the market and numerous stores were selling them....

Anyhoo, I wanted a Black model and since there was the US versions were planned on being Silver only, I opted to get a Black Euro version from Butterfly Photo....

I was told that everything would be identical except for the color of the camera, but when I opened the box, I noticed a few things that seemed odd...

First off, the power supply cable had a Euro Style plug and required a US Style plug adaptor....

I didn't really care for this because the plug and adaptor felt rather flimsy, but I didn't make any fuss about it....

The accessory catalog and user instructions were printed with FAR more languages than the average US version and Asian models....

Didn't make any fuss over this one either cause I LOVE Asian Women hehe

Especially this one ^

Should I expect to see similar differences if i were to buy a 350D rather than an XT?

I guess so. Youl'll probably get battery charger with European plug and manual in more languages nicluding english. Apart from that... The difference betwen cameras is only in front panel sticker.

The 350 and the XT is the same camera. The only difference I can think of is that the warranty may be a gray market (non US) for the 350. Some may say that Canon will not cover a gray market warranty repair in the US, but I've heard from others that Canon will honor all warranties no matter if they were gray market purchases or not.

So the choice is yours. Personally I would shop around and buy the camera from an authorized dealer so you have somewhere to go if problems arise.

A couple of places that I have bought items from are listed below.

I bought my XT from Ritz after they had a $50 off coupon in the newspaper - that pretty much paid my sales tax for me :D

Dunno. I live about half a mile from the shop and it's not worth the time and fuel to drive to another state to try that one.

Its my understanding that if you order a product online from a business out of state you do not pay sales taxes, if you drive there, you simply pay the sales tax just like anyone else from that state. If you do order from a business that happens to have a store in your state, you must pay sales taxes...Like for instance, everything I buy from newegg.com does not have sales tax because they are out california and because they do not have a store in my state... if I were to buy something from tigerdirect.com, I am charged sales tax because they have a store in my state.

DOH!!

I thought you meant you bought it online :o

Anyhoo, I called up Butterfly this morning and haggled my way down to some really low prices, but they wouldn't budge on overnight shipping :(

I'm gunna head over to my local Ritz after work and see what they can do for me....

I'm Tax exempt either way cause I have a business ;)
