Can Phayee Lens Adapter users please help answer the following questions?
1. What size petal shaped hood is used with the adapter? It appears 62mm is the one. What is the 67mm petal hood for?
2. Is the 62mm tethered lens cap for the adapter and the 72mm tethered lens cap for the original FZ20 tube?
3. For those who use the TCON 14B, do you use a lens hood? If so, what size?
I am close to ordering and want to get the right pieces. Thank you.

I just use the Phayee hood but the hood that came with the camera can be used or you could buy a 72mm threaded hood if you wish.
2. Is the 62mm tethered lens cap for the adapter and the 72mm tethered lens cap for the original FZ20 tube?
62 mm fits the 1st part of the adapter and the 72mm would fit the hood(2nd part).
3. For those who use the TCON 14B, do you use a lens hood? If so, what size?
I do not use a hood with the 14B but 86mm would be the correct size.
I am close to ordering and want to get the right pieces. Thank you.
Have fun with your new parts

You are asking shotgun questions which will lead you in a circle.
These are a couple of good configurations for the Phayee adapter. If an accessory is left out, it is done on purpose. It is a waste of money and or ineffectual.
Two options for standard configuration:
1- FZ20 > Phayee base adapter with 62mm female thread > 62mmStandard Hoya dual coated UV > Phayee 72mm hood straddles the filter and connects directly to the outside male thread on the base adapter > a 62mm centre squeeze lens cap to fit on the filter > Inexpensive single stage 72mm rubber collapsible hood to extend to coverage of the shallow Phayee hood. (Do not get a wide-angle model it flares out to quickly > [instead of the 62mm lens cap you can use a 72mm lens cap to fit on the 72mm rubber hood]
2- FZ20 > Phayee base adapter with 62mm female thread> 62mmStandard Hoya dual coated UV > a 62mm 3-position Hama multi-lens hood which mounts to filter> 62mm centre squeeze lens cap.
Each above configuration stays on the camera all the time except when using a TC.
Then the configuration may look like these.
Two examples of TC configuration one with a 62mm mount the other with a different mount.
1- FZ20 > Phayee base adapter with 62mm female thread > your selected 62mm accessory TC. > Standard Hoya dual coated UV if possible to match the TC front lens mount. [Some TCs have very large front filter mounts and you will have to use the filter options available] > If you can find one a lens hood for the TC.
2- FZ20 > Phayee base adapter with 62mm female thread > step-down ring to allow the 62mm base adapter to accept your smaller mm mount TC accessory > your smaller mount TC accessory> Standard Hoya dual coated UV if possible to match the TC front lens mount. [Some TCs have very large front filter mounts and you will have to use the filter options available] > If you can find one a lens hood for the TC.
If you alter any one of these options, you have wasted money and or got reduced performance.

I have all the configurations that LoveLife describes:
FZ20 / Phayee base / 62mm filter uv or pol / Phayee 'hood' / 72mm Hama hood
Fz20 / Phayee base / 62/55 step down ring / TCON 17 / 71/72 step up ring, pressed and screwed in / 72mm Hama hood Do not have filters to match
FZ20 / Phayee base / TCON 14B [62mm] / With simple sheet plastic single petal hood attached with a rubber band. Folds to fit in case and takes up no space.. Still no filters
FZ20 / Phayee base / WCON-08 [62mm] / with same sheet hood as above. And no filters again
I second LoveLife's configurations. They are correct and work.

Try the hard to find, metal 86mm Contax #5 hood.

If i was going for a metal hood, i think i'd prefer a petal shape rather than tube :)

I haven't got the Hama collapsible lens hood yet so I'm not quite sure what it look like. If converter lens is attached to first part of Phayee adapter (62mm), can the hood still be attached to the 62mm part of the adapter? If this can be done, will the hood cover the tele/wide converter lens?
Thanks.

I do not think that will work.
The converter lens is attached to the Phayee lens tube [first part]. Then the Hood is attached to the lens. Some lenses have a front thread for filters or threads. See my post above #52386 or click below:

I make a single petal hood from a piece of plastic and attach it to the large lens with a rubber band. Inexpensive, works, stores folded up.
My Oly WCON-08b has a 105mm front thread;
Oly TCON-17 has no front thread but I press and turned in a 71/72/ step up ring for my 72mm Hama hood;
Oly TCON-14b has a 86mm front threads.
FZ20>Phayee lens adapter>62/55 step down ring>TCON 17>71/72 step up ring>Hama 72mm hood plus wireless shutter control::

You can prefer all you want, make your own or wait for the train that will never come.

I really do not want to buy an 86mm hood for TCON-14b and an 105mm hood for the WCON-08B. Tooooo large to fit in my waistpac. The sheet plastic one does!! Have 72mm rubber Hama hood that I can get in. Have an aluminum case from Lowe's but it is out of room too.
The sheet plastic 'hood' looks like the letter "T" with the top of the T about 3/4 inch high and 6 1/2 wide. The height of the T is 7 inches and 5 1/2 inches wide. Simple, inexpensive, almost no thickness and folds so it easily packs in my case!

What type of plastic do you use to make the hood? How do you put the hood on TCON-14B and WCON-08B? Does the dimension above work for both TCON-14B and WCON-08B?
Thanks.

I used a standard file folder from STAPLES for the plastic that I had in my file drawer. . It is blue now but I want to make black ones and coat the inside with the dull black photographic flocking I bought. Since it is sheet plastic it will fit any large lens: TCON-14B is 86mm; the WCON-08B is 105mm. The hood is attached with 'VELCRO' like the Velcro strap on a baseball cap. The hood can be adjusted for wide angle or high zoom shots. It also folds so I may place it in my waist-pac. Not too expensive. BTW: I am going to make different shapes as I now know random ambient light can dull the colors in an image. My first was like a 'T' and the next one will wrap 360 degrees with an angle cut off in front. What is nice: The design can be changed at will. I intially used a rubber band to attach the 'hood'

Thank you.
Do you have the pictures showing the cut out plastic hood, Velcro strap and when it is fitted to the lens?
Do the Velcro strap permanently attach to the hood? Where did you get the Velcro strap (I'm still not quite sure what it is)?
How do you adjust and fold the hood?
I am also interested to see your other designs.

Will do! The shape of the hood is what you cut out.

I bought the approx. 1/2 inch wide Velcro from Walmart. I bought the kind that has pressure sensitive adhesive on the back side. I put a 1" piece of the loops on one side of the hood and a 3" piece of the hooks on the other side of the hood. This allows for size changes. Your wife or girl friend or significant other will know what Velcro is..
How do you adjust and fold the hood?
Just fold it like a piece of paper. You can separate the Velcro hooks from the Velcro loops with a little tug. and readjust the tension. If you want a small piece of Velcro PM to me.
I am also interested to see your other designs.
They are scattered across the Webb. PM me and I will send you the designs.
