could we ever expect a smaller aperture setting implementation on Canon's G series (7 maybe?) to go beyond the current f/8?

or are there limiting factors on P&S style cams that cannot accomodate this?

also the included neutral-density filter is equivalent to external ND 0.9 thats a 3-stop exposure cut, would I be dreaming to think they could implement an ND 6 at least?

or are we just going to hear the dreadead, better movie mode, higer pixels on the same ccd and the ability to turn off the cam with voice recognition, while on the other hand ignoring those features that contributes to a great photographic capturing device.

also the feature that is considered a gimmick by some DSLR users, the rotational LCD viewfinder is why I cannot part from my beloved A95 and go DSLR.., I also love this cam because of its ability to go places others cannot

Does the future ever have a place for a serious point and shoot style cam that can stretch it self closer to DSLR for more creative picture taking?

bigger sensor and bigger lenses will allow them to go beyond f/8. f/8 is really really small on 1/1.8 sensors.

If the 'gimick' is keeping you from a DSLR, the you obviously need one. Low ISO noise, Clean images, awesome lense options, and better battery power are some reasons I swapped. The huge viewfinder is awesome, if you learn to use it. :p Huge, btw, in respect to point and shoots.

Creative? How is using some flip screen creative? To me the option to shoot at a 180 degree field of view, or 4 degree field of view is awesome. The ability to shoot at 1:1 ratio with macro lenses is astounding. Many abstract images can be had this way. Shooting buildings without distortion using tilt shift lenses is amazing. Give it a try. Creatively controlling the depth of field using fast lenses to choose what is in focus or out of focus, is amazing.

Hi TheObiJuan

so my dreams are realistic after all.., they're going to have to add a larger ccd someday, I mean its reached 7.1 allready.

yeah the gimmick  helps with street photography :p ... and since I am the shy type, it realy does wonders when Im looking downwards while taking pics of them interesting and beautiful people.

however, yes I do feel attracted to higer iso's with lower noise, but I dont see the point in a larger viewfinder replacing a swivel display, when a swivel can be held up over your head (or any other awkward point) to take pics without the guessing game or dirtying those trousers.

you said quote "To me the option to shoot at a 180 degree field of view, or 4 degree field of view is awesome."

do you mean wide angle lense? mmm, maybe there is something more I should know to help me consider my options better.
