Are ther any DSLR cameras out there under $500 that do not use an electronic veiw finder. Or if there isn't, is there one that is good. Most reviews that I have read do not praise them very much. TIA

I think you might have some of your terms confused. DSLR's do not have electronic viewfinders. They have optical viewfinders. The LCD screen on the back is for viewing pictures after you have taken them. I also don't think you will find a good DSLR for under $500. Some ultra zoom cameras look a little like SLR's, and these may have electronic viewfinders. You can find an ultra zoom for under $500, but I don't think you will find any good DSLR's that fall in this price range.

Big Dawg-

Prop Wash is entirely correct. Perhaps in the future we will indeed see dSLR cameras in the $500 range, but we are not there yet. Currently most dSLR Cameras are priced at $800 and above.

There are indeed a lot of advantages to a dSLR camera. Primarily the ability to change lenses which most people really like. In addition, the photos taken with a dSLR camera are generally speaking higher quality photos. dSLR Cameras can also take advantage of the much higher usable numbers available only on good dSLR cameras, such as 3200 ISO.

and 1/4000 shutterspeed. The Rebel XT has the S2 beat on that one!
