Hi,

Just a quick question, I think the Photoshop Element suppose to be a smaller version of Photoshop CS (correct me if I am wrong). But how easy it is to use a book entirely written for Element with CS version of software ?

Basically I got CS software and I found a good book online (quite cheap and popular) written for Element, so I wonder how easy it is to follow the steps (toolbars menus etc.) from the book.

Thanks,

A.

It's probably about a 50-50 shot. However, having used both I find switching to Elements from CS very tough as the toolbars and pallettes behave differently. Some of the tools are in different places and have different names.

Personally I wouldn't randomly choose a book just because it was cheap online. I find that in this category you are much better served by browsing a few minutes in a bookstore to find a book that has examples of things you know you want to learn. Presentation style is more important than most anything else to me. Also, all color instead of b&w is worth the money in graphics tutorials.

If you want to save money you would be better served buying a book you like for an older version of Photoshop like v7. With CS2 out now the CS books might start to be in the discount racks.
