Canon A95. A good buy?

Hey there guys. I'm really in a dilemma here. Been pondering for days (or weeks) now about buying the new Canon A95.

I really like the features (5mp, swivel LCD esp., AA batt), but reviews by Steves-Digicams and now by our very own Jeff Keller have pointed out a very obvious flaw: Average photo quality. Terrible purple fringing and redeye. Damn. :(

I'm just a newbie, hoping some of the experts here can give me advice on this. Is the A95 a good buy?

I know how you feel. I have been waiting for the review also on the A95 and wanted to buy it but I am also concerned about picture quality. I am also looking at the Sony W1.

Does anybody have any ideas on the Panasonic LC80. It also is 5megapixals and uses AA batteries. I can't find a review on it.
