*Ist DS and third party lens compatibility

I was reading *Ist DS users manual (no I don't have the camera yet) about
Setting the Focus Position in the Viewfinder where it says:
The focus point is fixed to the center position regardless of this setting with lenses other than DA, D FA, FA J, FA or F lenses
Does that mean that you can't use this feature with third party lens?
I'll buy Sigma AF 18-50/2.8 DC EX for my camera (probably *Ist DS, maybe Rebel XT)

No, with 3rd party AF lenses you can still use focus points other than center, including the Sigma lens you refer to... They just don't talk about other brands in the manual...

They really mean that focus hints that occur when you use manual focus lenses (ie it flashes when focus is achieved) only work with the center focus point.....
