I have a Canon PowerShot A85 and i want to use it as a webcam, but windows xp will only recognize if when i connect it in viewing mode.

Has anyone used this camara as a webcam, and if so how did you get it to work?

I am connecting it to a computer running windows XP via USB2.

Thanks for the information.

I use my A70 as a webcam. I use the program cam4you ( http://jpegclub.org/cam4you/ ) which shows the image from the camera's LCD screen on the computer monitor, so you turn your monitor into a viewfinder (maybe Canon's remote capture program that came with your camera can do this too, I'm not sure) And I use the program SoftCam ( http://www.luminositi.com/ ) which can send anything that is shown on your monitor over the internet as streaming video. This works great with MSN and Yahoo messenger.

Those two programs work great, but i was wondering if there is any way to have windows detect and use the camara as a webcam.

Thanks for the help.
