Why not go for the Tcon-17? Seems to be much more bang for your buck.
Why not go for the Tcon-17? Seems to be much more bang for your buck.I STRONGLY disagree with this suggestion!!! You should know the S2 better before you suggest such things! The S2 has a special setting to be used with the Canon TC-DC58B to insure that AF and AE work correctly! I would not recommend using the Tcon-17 (which is made for Olympus, by the way) with the S2, unless it was thouroughly tested first! You run the risk of having serious auto-focus problems! This is NOT a good recommendation by any means (unless, as stated above, thoroughly tested first)!

I talked with several people who are using it just fine, and who have used it with the S1.
Im starting to wonder if you are a Canon rep, JTL.

Im starting to wonder if you are a Canon rep, JTL.Are you suggesting someone buy the Tcon-17 lens for the S2 based merely on hearsay? In my opinion, that's simply irresponsible.
And, the only thing that I have to do with Canon is that own three of them. I also own a two Nikons, a Minolta, a Fuji and a Roleiflex SLR. How many cameras was it that you own? I have been doing photography for more than 20 years. And I get paid for some of my work. In the past year I have probably used more cameras than years that you've been alive. And your experience is? And how long have you had the S2? And what testing have you done?
Oh, I left out my Mamiya SLR, too. Have you ever used one? Have you ever heard of one (as he starts Googling to prepare his answer)?
And, I'm still waiting for your to post a single photograph and pass along some useful information other than hearsay...you know, the kind you can pass along from personal experience...how about it? Oh, you know, I'm terribly sorry, I forgot. If it's not some rumor from some other site or some third hand infomation, you're not interested in it anyway...please forgive my presumption...
