I have a Kodak DX7590 and am seriously considering going to the Canon S2 IS. After reading some reviews of both the Kodak and the new Canon, I think that I may not have given the Kodak the chance it deserved.
The problem I have with my Kodak is the "over-processing" of images. It seems like all of the Kodak cameras I've had were like this. Taking pictures of outdoor landscapes is where the problem shows most -- anything that's green looks like a blurry mess. Grass, leaves, etc. all seem to blur together into a fuzz. I'm far from a professional photographer; the only time I stray from "auto" is to do some shutter-priority photos at night. Maybe I haven't given this camera enough time yet.
The movie mode on the 7590 is ridiculous, but I think the movie mode on the Canon is equally as ridiculous with no compression included. 7-8 total minutes on an empty 1GB card is not useful.
The cheapest thing to do would be to just keep the Kodak, but from what I've read about the S2 and from playing with it in the store, I'm temped to go for it. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Blue
