View Full Version : Focusing in Macro Mode

Just got my S2. Took about 10 photos so far just to see if worked. So far very happy.
So my question is, when I switch to macro mode and move the camera close up to a subject, like the 10cm the manual says, the image is not in focus. The autofocus does not work - though I'm not suprised.
So how do I manually focus for macro mode? I push the MF button on the side of the camera by the lens, but then what?
BTW: I never seemed to figure this out on my PS S30 either.
Thanks
Tom

TomAfter you press the manual focus button, use the up/down arrows to manually focus. I find it a little awkward! BTW, this info is clearly detailed on page 111 of the manual which you MUST read (several times) if you ever hope to learn how to use this camera. :)
I've been getting good auto focus in macro mode...first, make sure the subject is well lit...the S2 doesn't like low-light macro shooting. Then try moving the camera closer and/or further away while auto-focusing to get the distance right (took me a few tries to get this down). Below are some macro shots I took last weekend. The S2 seems to do a nice job once you learn the quirks...but that's like any new thing...
