I've narrowed my choices to 3 digital cameras -- The Canon S70, Panasonic FZ20, and the Canon S1 IS -- not necessarily in that order. Judging from replies I received to a previous post, I'm leaning toward the Panasonic. Does anyone know anything about the S70? And if there is another camera I should consider, please let me know. I'd like to make a purchase at least in the next few weeks. (Obviously, I'm in no hurry -- just want to make the riight choice.

hello, i am not an expert, however I have asked similiar questions,
--
I made my choice this week I am buying the Canon S1 IS.

I was told to ask yourself - -
what features you want/need
how will you be taking pics - for printing /email etc..
do you need a good video mode
how much do you have to spend

After I went through what i wanted -
I choice the S1 IS.

The zoom/movie mode and feel of this camera seem perfect
I never print larger than 8x10
so 3 meg ifs fine.. and the zoom w/ stabil. will make the moving object less blury..

the movie mode has sound and a very nice picture..

I was thinking about the A75 / S1 IS or Sony DSV1

and the canon S! - is a much better choice for me///

I will let you know later this week after I get mine !!!

you can also check out steves-digicams for reviews too..

hope this helps.

If you haven't already done so, go to a camera store and play with each camera. There's so much information it's overwhelming, and it's easy to get lost in the information. Those three cameras are so different that you'll probably like one the best, and that should be your choice. Good luck.

The FZ20 won't be found in any stores right now - chances are, not until late September. But certainly the two Canons are available right now for touching and feeling.
