I guess most people have differently sized pockets, but what are people's thoughts on this? I haven't seen one in person, but for people that have, or people who own it, can it be shoved into a pocket (for example on a pair of cargo pants, or slacks) while on vacation? Or is it too big for this?

It's pocketable into cargo pants but the weight and bulk would make it uncomfortable. Get a belt case instead. It will also give your camera some added protection.

I wound up getting this bag because it fits the S2 almost perfectly, is adequetly padded, has a detachable shoulder strap AND (what you can't see in the picture) a snap-button belt loop (very convenient) so it's real easy to use however you want...

Oh...forgot to mention...the pocket has slots for two SD cards and 4 AA batteries with a little room left over...

I like a little larger bag. As a Mom with kids in tow, I'd prefer to have my camera and a small wallet all in one place. The Tamrac - Digital 6 Digital Camera Bag 5696 fits the bill for me. My camera fits nicely in the midddle slot, and there's room in the other two slots for my wallet, and the book (I'm still reading). Later, I'll use those slots for an aux. flash and conversion lens. I got it at Ritz Camera. I'm not sure if this link will work, but here it is:
