Very entertaining review. Cameras reviewed were Canon PowerShot S2 IS, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1, Kodak EasyShare Z7590, Konica Minolta DiMage Z5, and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5.
The winner was a toss-up between the Canon S2 and the Panasonic FZ5, because they had better image quality than the rest. Eventually the FZ5 was given the "gold" because of better action photography. The Canon S1 got the silver, and the Sony H1 the bronze. The rest were not considered to be in the same class.
As for me, I actually bought the FZ5 a few weeks ago, but the lack of a manual focus option was too much of an impediment. Got worse pictues in certain situations than my old Canon A70, which has manual focus. So I ended up returning the camera. As far as I can tell the Sony H1 does not have a real manual focus (only five present distances instead), although Jeff's review did not address this directly. That leaves the S1.......
