I've noticed something else that may not be an improvment in the s2.
The s1 lens is 10x, but appears to be faster, it's listed as a 2.8-3.1.
The S2 is rated 2.7-3.5...
However, ANY zoom on the S2 will up the f number to 3.2.. it's ONLY 2.7 at the widest setting.
On the S1, the camera stays at 2.8 until about 5x, then jumps to 3.1....
Yes, the lens looks bigger, but except for the zoom, I don't know if it's better.
This is still above average.. but not the best of the 12x ultrazooms...
Pannasonic FZ20 2.8
FZ5 2.8-3.3
Sony H1 2.8-3.7
Minolta Z5 2.8-4.5
The FZ20 has a very nice lens, but it's also BIG. Considering the size, the S2 isn't far off from the FZ5...
I'm telling you.. if the FZ5 had a decent video mode, I would likely own one.
But my whole purpose is NOT to have to carry two cameras...
