I just got Photoshop 7.0 (don't ask how) and am looking for some literature or websites that will show me a few of the getting started basics then move onto some advanced editing likes masks and filters.
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be great.
Thanks

I wanted to respond yesterday, but got lost trying to find the site I had used.
Anyway, the following site is a good way to find information and tutorials. It may not be a great beginners spot as I think it will assume some basic knowledge of the tool bars and buttons. It is a good place to look for information regarding items such as masking, color correction, etc... That, and it is geared towards Photoshop 6 and 7. Also remember that a lot of what works in later Photoshops will work in Photoshop 7 (and 6). The menus may be a bit different though. It should also be possible to find a book for Photoshop 7 (check Amazon) and they will be cheap as it is "outdated" software.

Good luck

Do check into any books Author and all things Photoshop Guru Scott Kelby has written. I have two of his books on Photoshop Elements 3.0 and they are simply fantastic, very well written, very interesting, and he teaches you very useful and very popular techniques! do check into it, I know as soon as I upgrade to that applicaiton or CS the first thing I buy will be his books!

Yip, he is the guru of PS. I can second this response. You should look at his books.

And once you get familiar with the basics, check out Dan Margulies' 'Professional Photoshop'. It's all about getting images ready for real-world use: adjusting color and contrast for maximum snap, sharpening, how much resolution do you really need, how to take the worst originals and make them printable, etc.
