Just wondering if there is an estimated review date for the S2. I'm down to considering the FZ20, the H1, and the S2, and the S2 review will probably tip the scales one way or another.

I have found a review here:

It's in German, but you can have the site translated here, if needed. :)

I have bought the camera, and it's great, very sharp pics.

You can only base so much on a review, you really need to test these cameras out for yourself...

I caved and bought the camera. So far I'm pretty impressed and a little intimidated by the feature set I'm playing with. As an amateur this is definitely a tool I will need to grow into.
However, testing a camera in store with uniform fluorescent lighting wouldn't give me what I needed. I'll let you know how its going once I get a few good photos under my belt.
The review is in 2 days :) I can't wait.
By the way, I have a (very likely stupid) question. I have never held a camera with an LCD screen that can be flipped in my hands to test this, but if you flip the screen like on the pictures below, won't the image on the LCD screen be upside down in position 4?

wow! excellent. Seems like Jeff has a good feel for what is the "hot" item in the community. nice one. He is simply blowing away the other camera sites in getting the best reviews first.

The camera automatically flips the image over depending on which way the LCD is pointing.
Ahhh, yep that makes sense. Thanks Jeff.

The swivel LCD is one of the reasons why I didn't choose the S2...the LCD on the H1 is spectacular...

Let's just say that I have my finger on the pulse of the camera community and I know what people want. I always move cameras around on my schedule to get the hot stuff done first. Plus I'm really good at reusing parts of old reviews in new ones :)

The swivel LCD is one of the reasons I did choose the S2. It's got lots of neat applications. My kids like taking self-portraits. I like shooting every birthday cake at every party we go to. No more standing on a chair to see what I'm getting! It's also nice for ground level shots. I can keep my clothes clean and still get the angle I want.

The swivel LCD is what holding me back from buying the pany fz5.
if the pictures on the S2 is as great as the pany, and since both have IS and 12x zoom, the LCD might just be the deciding factor.
but I will wait for Jeff review of the S2 before making the decision.
