View Full Version : Sony W1 Conversion Lenses
I saw that the conversion lenses Sony offers for the W1 are 30mm lenses. Does anyone know if this is a fairly standard size? I'm hoping to buy the W1 soon, and I like the add-on lense feature, but I have a hard time justifying dropping a $100 on a lense that I can't use on another camera. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jim,
Digicam lenses are increasingly 37mm, 52mm or higher altho many camcorders by Sony and other vendors take 30mm accessories. (Check out this link for an indication of the relative frequency of lens sizes: http://www.raynox.co.jp/february/adapterpage.htm ) Early digicam models used 25mm/28mm/28.5mm filters for which 30mm adapters were available. If the W1 fits your needs, I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the lens.
Thanks for the info. I'm still planning on getting the W1. The info you gave definitely helps. Thanks! :)
