View Full Version : Lens adapter for S7000
I bought a Fuji S7000 recently. It is a nice camera, I like it very much. One thing that bugs me is, if I want to use a filter, the manual says that I need to use a lens adapter. The Fuji one costs about $45. Is there any cheaper alternative? And also, which is good place to buy uv filters and circular polarizers?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure that you really need to put filters on the camera as most post-processing software (like Photoshop Elements) have software filters galore which work just as well as the glass type, and your original stays true to form.
Maybe a UV filter for lens protection...
B & H Photo should be a good source:

I'm not sure about the lense adapter - although if you wish to invest in a polarizer/UV filter, B+W is probably the best brand, although most expensive. Contax also makes fine filters, but also is costly.
Cheaper can degrade the quality of the picture, but Hoya seems to make some decent multi-coated filters.
BHphotovideo is an excellent store, and has a huge online selection.

I leave my adapter on the camera all the time to protect the lens tube servos from being bumped or getting jammed. I keep a UV filter over the front to protect the front lens element and keep out the dust

I get all my 'bits' on Ebay. Someone is always upgrading or changing model, so you have a choice of the real Fuji item or a HK copy.
I have bid for and won several top name quality polarisers, UV's etc. for just a couple of £'s. With regard to the Tele photo/w angle lenses - they come with an adapter and Amazon.com is definately the best place to buy. On Ebay, people get into a bidding war over these lenses and end up paying far too much. Amazon are about £30 cheaper than direct from Fuji and usually free postage.
Amazon sell a Hama 55 mm Economy UV lens, whixh I saw commented on by an American expert. He said, forget the 'economy' tag as they are excellent. Cheap too !.
