I am learning how to use ISO 3200 and loving it. If you nail the exposure then all is well. Noise is well controlled and the image is VERY useable. I mean VERY.
Here are a few shots shot wide open with the Sigma 70-300 APO Super Macro II.

I was getting 1/250 at f/4-4.5 indoors! I had my 420EX helping out at -1FEC though. It was bouncing off the cieling.
Less shadows = less noise. :p
Impressive. How do the XT and the Pentax *ist compare?

Well the XT doesn't have the extended ISO 3200 option, but you can push it in postprocess. I have done it and got almost as good results, but this was my fault for slightly underexposing the image.

Looking good.
P.S. Isn't using the 420EX fudging a little. The idea is not to use a flash...right?

I recently shot an entire wedding ceremony at 3200 on my 20D by accident, and the shots turned out great! At the most a little Neat Image to smooth out the noise a bit and you are set. A great option to have... (Doesn't look so good on my DReb with the Wasia hack, though).

George, I don't think shooting with the 420EX fudges it at all. I had it set to -1 stop FEC and it was bounced too. So It just helped a little. The flash doesn't affect the exposure, it just enhances it. ETTL-II auto adjusts depending on the exposure and FEC setting.
The purpose of ISO 3200 for me is to get faster shutter speeds indoors. If I had some more f/1.4-1.8 glass then I would more than likely never use it, however, with a good exposure it makes it wonderful.
