The Longest Yard Movie and Canon L Lenses

I went to see The Longest Yard today. Normally I wouldn't care or even notice all the cameras and lenses during the big game scenes. However, since I've kinda gotten bit by the amateur photography bug over the past year, I notice all those big beautiful White Canon zoom lenses during the movie.

I remember seeing the movie papparazzi a couple of months ago. That was a Nikon movie apparently. It was full of them.

I went to my first Red Sox game a couple of weeks ago at Fenway Park. From my perch atop the green monster I could see the photographers' pits on the side of either team's dugouts. The pit was fronted with a yellow padded railing emblazoned with the Nikon label every 4 inches or so, and there was a large Nikon banner on the bullpen wall. Of the 15 photographers in the pits, only 2 were using Nikon gear...everyone else had white lenses with red rings :D .

This is a little off beat, but makes more sense to mention this here than anywhere else. I have attended three weddings this month and each wedding photographer used digital SLRS and every one of them used the Fujifilm S3 pro. No one was using Canon or Nikon... I found that strange... I spoke with all of them and they were all interested in my XT and asked me lots of questions about it, but they all expressed their extreme satisfaction with their fujifilm cameras. I just thought this was worth mentioning somewhere... One of the wedding Photographers was paid to travel in from out of town to shoot the wedding - he had a lot of wonderful Ideas ...

The latest Fuji Super CCD (on the S3) does offer extended dynamic range (over CCD and CMOS) that several wedding photographers that I have talked to prefer. This was the case with the Fuji S2 as well.

Not everything in dSLR's, that is good, is made by Canon and Nikon. ;)

I think Paparazi was a Canon film. At least the "evil" photgraphers all used Canon (I looked carefully during the accident scene). CSI, on the other hand, seems to be a Nikon show.

Oh Lord George, I hope I did not come off like that, suggesting that Nikon and Canon are the only companies that offer quality options for photography. That was not my intent. I was just thinking that I should mention this because I find it very interesting... But those cameras are out way out of my price point...

Read my post at the beginning of the thread. Paparazzi was a Nikon film. I was disappointed. I wanted to see a bunch of nice canon cameras and L lenses.
