Could someone please offer up some recommendations? This will be my first digital camera and these are my specifications:

1) approximately $150 range

2) at least 3 mp

3) I'm a terrible photographer so a basic point and shoot will suffice

4) would like nice 4"x6" and occasionally 5"x7" prints

5) something LIGHT and COMPACT that will fit in my purse

6) a little zoom would be nice

I've read a lot of good things about Canon's on this forum but I don't think they offer what I'd like in my price range. I'm leaning towards a Fuji A330 or A340 but it seems that they aren't favored here. Would it be better to get a Canon that doesn't zoom (like an A300) over the Fuji which zooms 3x?

I would recommend the Kodak line of cameras.
The Kodak CX7330 would fit your price range
and also the specifications you have asked for.

Here is the link for Kodak CX7330:

or you can visit the Kodak Website:
Kodak Website (http://www.kodak.com)

We currently have the CX6230, and this is a newer version of that
camera. I would also highly recommend that you purchase the optional
Printer Dock for around $150. With this dock, you can very easily
transfer pics into your PC, and you can print store-quality 4X6 photos
for around $.62 per photo. You will have a great time with this setup.

Take a look at the Canon A-300, A-310 etc series. They are in your price range and produce good digital photos.

Hmmm.... how about the Canon A-400 as compared the the A-310/300? It's relatively inexpensive, has 3.2 mps, and a 2x zoom.

I was also checking out my friend's Fuji 303 and she says she's happy with it. The outdoor pictures looked great but the indoor ones were a little dark. I'm kind of expecting that with a low-end camera though.

BTW, thanks for everyone's advice :)

If you are going to stretch you budget. Take a very close look at the Canon A75 (lists for $249). It's about jacket-pocket sized but has everything you need. 3X zoom is about the minimum you would want.

Good hunting.
