I got an a510 on Thursday. In testing it, it began to show the above error message whenever I took a picture with the camera held vertically and then tried to view the picture in playback. The "rotate image automatically" option was on so that the picture would appear upright right after the shot but nothing in playback but the error message. The picture is there if I view it with a card reader in my computer. Also, when I took a vertical picture and turned the camera back horizontally, the camera switched to M mode all by itself. So Canon said to return it and get another as it was defective. I ordered another and was just wondering if anyone else with an a510 has encountered this problem or was it just an unusual defect. Thank you.
