View Full Version : Olympus C-7000 vs. Canon SD500 Vs. Nikon 7900

Of the three above mentioned cameras, which one is the best? I am leaning now towards the Olympus C-7000 thanks to the recommendation of "snapshot" in Cnet Forum. Thanks.
Bought the SD500 for myself and 7900 for my wife and had the C7000 for 3 days. The C7000 was not intuitive, bulky, and even though it received great reviews, I decided to send it back.
The 7900 takes great outdoor shots. The definition in a clouded sky is better than the Canon and generally the images have better contrast and definition. Haven't gotten a bad picture yet. The SD500 is faster shot to shot and has an interesting array of color adjustments such as Vivid colors, blue or green accent, etc. I find myself using the vivid color option and modifying the images either with the Nikon software or Photoshop, or sometimes both.
I am curious about the Olympus verve 800. That may be a great camera worth waiting for.
Love the small size of both cameras and probably will keep them awhile.

If you are interested in the Olympus Verve 800, perhaps you should take a look at the Fuji F-10 which is about the same size and able to use ISO's up to 1600 with very little noise.

Yeah, I did buy the C-7000, but I did not like its image quality or bulkiness. I sold it on eBay and now I have both a Panasonic FZ5 12x and a Canon S80.
