Your best bet is to read the forum on which camera to buy. You also need to take into account which features are most important to you. It isn't enough to choose one brand. If you choose Cannon, which model of Cannon are you going to buy?

I found the Buyers Guide on this site invaluable for choosing my camera. There are great reviews, and they don't show any bias. A couple of other sites do the same thing.

Once I narrowed my choices, I went and looked for as many reviews as possible on that camera. One good review shouldn't be enough. Look objectively too at why people give a bad review. Often times it's the bad reviews that help me choose a camera. A lot of people here are going to tell you their camera is best, but it is the only one they have. Some people here will be quite helpful too. Try to recognize bias.

Also, don't include your own bias. Don't assume that because your friends have a Cannon that it is the best. I just bought a new camera 2 months ago. When I started shopping, I was looking at Cannons because I thought they were best. I ended up buying a different brand (Panasonic). I also learned a lot about what brands are good and not. It often depends on what the primary purpose of the camera is. Different brands are good for different situations.

As for my take... without being too biased, the cameras I ended up leaning towards when shopping were Cannon, Olympus, and Panasonic. Panasonics sometimes get bad reviews, but it is often misconceptions and people think they are difficult to use. Cannon get the best reviews because people find them easy to use although their quality is not necessarily that great.

Last... Try out the cameras as much as possible. Feel them in your hands and look at their output. Your own hands and eyes are your best help.

1) What would you consider when purchasing a camera and give opinion?(brand, design, features, price, free gift)

I see what my needs are and go from there. For what I'm doing (and the conditions in which I shoot), I cannot settle for anything less than a DSLR. Price and size aren't real issues up to a point.

2) What is the impact of digital camera against the film camera?

For normal everyday people, film has no more place. But for artists, amateurs, and professionals, film is still higher quality than digital. There's also something to be said for "doing things the old fashioned way."

3) What common brand your choose n y?(Kodak,Nikon,Canon,Konica Minolta,Sony,etc)

I like Canon and Nikon. Sony's good when traveling in style. I'm not too partial to Kodak anymore. Simplification is good, but oversimplying to the point where good features are lost is a no-no. Their cameras are very easy to use, and that's why they are so popular.

4) Why do your purchase a camera?(for travelling,business o others)

Restaurant and food photography

5) Budget of a camera...

20D = $1200-$1300
Lenses = $300 initially but that will shoot past $1000 before the end of the year
Accessories (Card, Bag) = $100

That comes out to an upfront cost of about $1600 and far past $2000 in the long term.

6) If let u choose a camera digital camera or film camera u prefer n y?

I'd still take digital. We all make mistakes, and that's where digital shines.
