Nikon Coolpix 7900 or Canon Powershot SD500??

I have read various reviews about the Nikon 7900 (Jeff's, CNET, etc.) and also the Canon Powershot SD500. I know the differences b/t these two cameras, but the Canon is about $100 more everywhere I check online. Is it really worth the extra $100 over the Nikon 7900? Perhaps there are users of both cameras out there who can advise me. I do not want to spend more than necessary if the difference in quality is not very clear. I am most interested in sharp image quality/detail and excellent movie mode. Manual controls are nice, but secondary, as long as the shots are good. Any other suggestions I have overlooked? Thanks.

Take a look over in the Photo Gallery folder and you will see some excellent shots from Canon SD-500's. I have not seen many from the Nikon 7900 yet.

Another digital camera you might want to take a look at is the new Fuji F-10. There is a review of that camera at dpreview and it includes some direct comparison shots between the F-10 and the SD-500.
