Well, I've got an idea, but it's a pricey one. I did a news story a while back on Gateway's Photo Jukebox. It can grab images right off a storeage card.
So something like that should work.... but like I said, it ain't cheap!
Here's the story at DigiCamNews.net (http://www.digicamnews.net/archives/2005/05/gateway_release.html)

Actually $250 isnt that bad for a portable storage unit. At 2.5MB per frame it would hold about 2500 shots which is easily a vacations worth.
That said, you might want to read the posting rules here, as I think that you may have violated one of them by posting a pointer to your own commercial site. ;)
P.S. I just noticed that there is a 2000 image limit, but that should still suffice. I suppose this is to avoid overwriting other files.
Also the 1.6" display may be a little small, but better than nothing. I can see a problem downloading from cameras with only USB1.1 or 2.0 Full speed.
But all-in-all this is pretty good for the price.

You may wish to consider the Apacer Disc Steno CP100 or the CP200. I've used the CP100 with excellent results. If still available it's probably going for around $100 US. The CP200 is a later model with many more bells and whistles and is available for $200 US. The units handle most memory cards, are portable and powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. They measure approximately 8 x 8 Inches square and are about 1 1/2 inches thick. Neither has an lcd for photo viewing but the CP200 can be hooked up to a TV for viewing photos.
How about one of these below? Could use this to transfer from camera to portable digital player: iRiver iHP 120 (which already have)

From just reading though the link I would say you most probably could download to the i-river, if the i-river was tolerant of the the .jpeg format.

Thanks Sarah Joyce.
May buy the Macally brand soon.
