I'm looking for something simple I can get for my mother in law to take pictures with. Really simple... The less buttons the better. A scene mode will probably be ok but it will never be used so it might be better not to have that. She's a technophobe, so really, all it needs is a power button and shutter button...

Also, we're limited in budget, so ideally I'd like something that I can pick up used on ebay at around the $100 mark. Any ideas?

Yeah, get her a film camera.

Seriously. Digital is great for what it does, but a technophobe will probably be happier with regular film. I know my mother is.

After all, she has no idea how to use a computer to crop, edit or adjust images. She doesn't like fiddling with a lot of buttons. And she prefers to look at prints in an album than on a screen.

If that describes your mother in law, then I recommend picking up a brand-new Canon SureShot for about $70 and maybe even throwing in a couple of rolls of film.

Determined to have her go digital anyway? Get her a Kodak, which seem to be the easiest for Technophobes to use. Something with a printer dock will allow her to skip the computer altogether. Kodak has some pretty nice cameras these days but if you stick to a model with less bells and whistles (look to the CX instead of DX series for less buttons or manual controls) you can probably get one for a decent price.

She's teh one who wanted a digital :) I think she wants to be able to easily store and view the pictures on her computer, and email pictures to her family.

I was looking at the kodak's, cx7330 is pretty cheap and looks braindead...
