It's July now and I'm wondering when there will be a review of the Nikon 5200.

I already bought the camera and I'm very pleased with it. But I just wanted to know what the review says about it.

My experience with the 5200 is that's a very fast and small camera with a good hand grip. I makes a little bit soft images but can easily be adjusted in the menu or with post processing.
Red eye reduction works good and it will focus in a second in complete darkness.

It's only too bad that it lacks manual control of the aperture and shutter speed. But afterall it's just a point and shoot camera.

You can check the list of pending reviews by clicking "Upcoming Reviews" on the main DCR page. The 5200 is currently scheduled for July 7th.

I know a couple people now that own this camera and no complaints from any of them so far; however, as you said -it's just a point and shoot.

Around July 7th is when the review should arrive. I've heard little of the of the camera itself - one of my buddies owns one, and she's happy for what she uses it for - P&S, all around.

I just bought the 5200 yesterday.

I love the size and the speed. It is one quick camera shot-to-shot and starting up. The AF assist is great. I use a D100 and a D70, so I'm used to more control obviously. I don't necessarily need the control, except shooting with flash. It refreshes between shots really quick even when shooting with flash, but damn if the flash doesn't wash a lot out. I will post sample pics of what I mean later tonight.
