Zoom button dslr

Question from a newbee (hardly dare to post it).
I read the reviews on the D-SLRS's (canon rebel xt, nikon d70), but I don't see anything on a zoom button (in record mode).
Don't these camera's have them or am I simply looking over them ?

On SLRs, you zoom by manipulating the lens, not the camera. Or am I mis-reading your question?
