Hello,

I have been reading this forum for a little while and there is a lot of recommendations and a lot of problems with all of the same cameras.

My Olympus 4040 recently died on me. I got a quote to repair at $225, so I will be purchasing a new camera. The 4040 took pictures that were good for my uses. I mainly take pictures of my young daughter and post them on Ofoto. I order mostly 4x6 photos but sometimes as large as 8x10. Never larger.

While I liked the images from the 4040, I did not like the form factor. It is too large to carry around easily. I am looking for a smaller camera that will fit in my front shirt pocket.

I never take movies with my camera, so I don't care about that feature at all.

I do want AA battery use - no proprietary batteries for me. AA is just too convenient and I already have rechargeables ready to go.

As for memory, I did not like the Smart Media cards in the Olympus. I had 3 of them fail - they are just too flimsy.

I am looking for image quality and redeye reduction. I do not care about manual controls - I just want to set a scene and push the button. I will be taking pictures at home, inside and out.

I am considering:

Canon A510/520
Nikon 5600/7600
Sony W7
Casio R62
Fuji E550

Any recommendations between these? My budget is under $500. But naturally less is better. I don't want to overbuy on features I won't use.

Thanks,
Fleet

I think I would check out the canon A-95 it is a very good camera and will do everything that you want.
