Well, it's been three weeks and I must say I am quite happy with my decision to go with the FZ 20. I have created an online gallery if anyone is interested, I'd love any feedback and crits....

the images are limited in size though,sorry (but it's a free site so it's a trade off)....all photos taken in and around Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

I think it needs to be all caps too.
And yeah, nice shots. Birds usually fly away as soon as I pick up my camera.

Do you happen to remember your shutter, apeture and iso settings on those pictures? Did you Photoshop? They came out looking great and I am always curious and if there are better settings then the ones I tend to use. Thanks.

LudiChris-As often as not at this stage I am allowing the camera to choose its own settings, but I have recentlyset my iso to 80 in an attempt to get a bit more cropping out of the better images. I have also set my exposure to -1/3ev...and yes I do photoshop most images in one way or another, for sharpness, levels etc., sometimes I clone out an annoying twig or such. Still learning my way around! :o

IMHO
Leave the ISO on auto until you are sure something else is better.
If noise seems to be a problem Neat Image will remove it.
Locking the ISO at 80 is a mistake for someone learning and it has nothing to do with cropping.
I can see locking the ISO at a higher number when you want a faster shutter speed or under dark conditions but not the other way around.
