Hello to all....I'm a newbie here and not too Digi-Photo smart.I got a great deal on a 5 and have a question. When I save files they come back up at 72 dpi. Is that something I can change? I have a Nikon 885 3 Meg Pix that does 300 dpi at 24 bit depth...shouldn't this one do at least that?

Indeed...after two weeks trying to get customer service from KM...72dpi is max. This camera is a piece of junk!!!! Crappy photos!!! False advertising from these folks. I'll see if they make good on their service. I can go to almost any Wal-Mart and get a $75.00 camera that takes better pix.  :(

The Dimage 5 has a resolution of 3.1 MP or 2048 x 1536 pixels. The 72 dpi you are seeing is a meaningless number. Cameras don't take pictures in DPI but rather in resolutions of x pixels by y pixels. If you actually printed a 3 MP picture at 72 dpi it would be 28.4" by 21.33". The DPI of a print can be figured by dividing the resolution numbers by the print size. A 3 MP camera will give you enough resolution to print good 8 x 10's at around 200 DPI.

While the Dimage 5 is about 4 years old and has its shortcoming it certainly will take pictures better than your average $75 camera. If your shoot at the camera's full 3 MP resolution and lowest compression it will comare favorably with other 3 mp cameras!
