I took a short movie with my camera but I can't figure out how to rotate it and play correctly when downloaded. How do I go about this? Do I have to do it in a movie editor?

If you're having problems playing it, then it's a matter of having the right video codecs downloaded. I can't remember exactly which one you need, but a search here or at dpreview.com should turn it up.

As far as rotating goes... I'm not aware of any software that can do this. If such a feature does exist, I imagine it would be in fairly high-end software.

The best free video editing software I know of is called VirtualDub. You can do a google search for that.

It is possible to rotate. Having said that, I've not come across any free software that'll do it.

I once rotated a quick-time silent video by using a free program that cut it into individual frames. Then I rotated all the frames and re-combined as a video. It worked but took a couple of hours.

VirtualDub does have a rotation filter, but I've never used it before.

Microsoft Movie Maker which is a basic movie editing program that is included with every version of Windows XP can rotate perfectly fine.

You'll find that with the right codecs it's a nice little program to have around. =o) Enjoy!
