I am not sure why you are comparing these two. It should be the W5 and P100 or the W7 and P200.
The W5 and P100 are both 5mp and around the same cost.
The W7 and P200 are both 7mp and around the same cost.
In favour of the W series...
In general, you get a larger LCD but with a lower resolution in the W series.
You can run the W series on AA batteries. Handy at times. Also rechargeable NiMH batteries are as cheap as chips.
Some may find the more convential shape of the W series better.
In favour of the P series
Smaller and lighter.
LiIon battery has better life for infrequent users but spare batteries cost a lot more. Rechargeable NiMH. batteries drain really quickly when left 'on the shelf'.
Higher resolution (but smaller) LCD.
Very odd looking accessory lens attachment, but the accessory slave flash is a better fit to the body of the P series.
There really isn't a lot in it. They are the main differences. I think both W series and the P200 have a few extras over the P100 like white balance in flash mode (where's the manual white balance?) and more flexible metering options.
