i went to circuit city today to finally purchase the fz20. they had a sale going on which made me happy i didnt buy the camera 4 weeks ago the last time i was in there. but the guy said they were all sold out and that the camera had been discontinued. he had no idea if panasonic was coming out with an upgrade, or just a straight discontinuation of the line. so i thought maybe someone around here would know. should i try in vain tomorrow to find a retailer that has some left in stock? or should i wait for the possibility that there will be an upgrade to this model?

Trusting what a Circuit City employee thinks...definitely not a good idea. Not sure where you are located, but if the employees there are anything close to the ones like work at the local store where I leave, they are clueless. Great prices, but definitely no technical assistance. :)

i dont trust anything that a circuit city, best buy, radio shack, etc employee tells me, which is why i thought i would ask here. i live in chicago, and there are other places i can go to find the FZ20, i just dont want to run all around town to find this thing if people here can tell me that an upgrade is coming. would rather wait for the upgrade.
I agree dont trust the so called "experts" at the retail stores. I used to work at Best Buy, and trust me, they dont teach the employees and they basically tell the sales people to just B.S. their way through the customers questions!
Agent, why run all over Chicago when you can just call around :D

I've seen the FZ20 instock at Circuit City and Ritz Camera in the Chicago area just this week. If you really want to find one, you can go to CC's web site, and enter your ZIP code, and they will tell if it is in stock at any stores near you.

Don't believe people when you have them do a check of local stores. I don't know about circuit city, but I had Best Buy or Comp USA do that for me once, and they gave me the line that none of their other stores had it. Sales person told me to consider other models (trying to make a sale at his store). I went home and checked online. Another store had it, and I got it that afternoon.
I don't trust anyone at these bigger brand shops. I think even more specialized places like Ritz camera can be hit and miss on knowledge of what is going on.
