Does anyone know if a 4 GB microdrive can work in one of the older fuji cameras? I ordered one but then found a site that talked about compatibility with FAT-32 file system.

www.steves-digicams.com/microdrive.html

From his description, an older camera like my dad's S602 should be able to read 2GB if the drive is formatted properly (meaning not FAT-32) while newer, compatible models could be able to use the 4GB with FAT-32 formatting. There was a post on this board last summer where someone had this problem but no follow up posts about whether he resolved it.

Anybody know? I hate to send the drive back and pay for shipping and 15% restocking. But since I can't return it after opening it, I don't want to open if it I can't make it work.

Thanks

Getting no responses is kind of a bummer. Searching around the web, I found a few helpful bits information. The link below is to a white paper from Hitachi that explains the FAT issues for digicams. It seems that I could reformat the 4GB FAT-32 microdrive to a 2GB FAT-16 drive. But no guarantee that it will work perfectly in an older camera. So I decided to send the drive back.
