OK, no cheating here... This is one of my favorite portraits of my wife. I took it at our breakfast table on Easter Sunday, right before church. Can anyone guess which camera/lens combo I used? No cheating with the EXIF...

Well the background has a bit of banding, I'd guess a canon, a rebel? Maybe with a kit lens or a 28>70 tamaron? Little soft on left side.

This isn't a trick question as in you used a P&S (and took the portrait really well with one) is it? Just making sure. :D


I'm guessing this is a Rebel + Canon 85mm combo.

You got me! I actually took this shot 3 months before I was able to buy a DSLR with.........a Canon A80.

Sometimes seems to me that we get very caught up comparing out DSLR's and lenses, flashes, accessories, etc. I came upon this picture the other day, and thought it would be nice to remind everyone that you can get great pictures with the camera you already have!

you're totally right! many of my best pictures were shot with the A80 before i got my first (and only) d-slr!

timmicglobal: i'm not sure why the tamron is being compared to the kit lens.
