FZ20 Gurus:
I have a few questions on PP of images . . .
How does one put a border around an image using “PHOTO-BASE 4.5” software that came with FZ20?
How does one keep the EXIF data along with the image – I tried to import the EXIF data but it gets saved in a “.TXT” file and is saved independently of the image. Am I doing anything wrong?
After an image has been cropped, does it make sense to resize it back to approximately original size of 5 MP? For example, an image with 5 MP is cropped by 60% down to 2 MP, then does it make sense to resize it back to 5 MP size?
When I look at my images on my PC, on a 21” monitor, at 100% size of the image (In PHOTO-BASE), I see “pixilation” of the image? Is this because the 100% size of the image is not corresponding with the 100% picture size or something else? I think a better way to explain this would be to send one image that does this to one of you Gurus. Please advise.
Thanks!

I never used that software so I can not answer that.

Some software just automaticly strips exif and some strip it if you use the Save for web option .
But the easiest program to save exif I have seen is Irfanview and its free.
It has a one click option to copy to clipboard and can then be pasted anywhere you want.

get all the plugins and you have a pretty good editor

Some programs do that pretty well I use Photoshop and it can do that with very little if any quality loss but its my guess with a lesser program that is not a good idea. Although Paintshop Pro might do it well.

You do not want to view a photo at 100% you want to view it to fit the screen.(or window) Almost all Photo editors allow that as a default setting.
Windows XP also allows that option.
I feel that people that complain of noise are viewing the photo at 100%.
And there is no point in that. there should be no noise or artifacts if the photo is viewed at full screen.
If you want to send me a photo my EMail address is in my profile and while I am not a guru I could see if there is anything wrong with the picture. To view on a monitor the resolution should be 72ppi which usually a Photo editor defaults to that but its possible to change that setting and cause the photo to be Pix-elated or such.
Just to add that if you are going to print the photo then the ppi should be 200 or more and most printing programs will set that by default also.

No. Resampling up will degrade quality. If you can, try and shoot near the size you think you'll want to crop. That way you'll crop less and maintain a higher resolution photo.
