I recently went into Best Buy and atempted to purchase the Canon G6. The salesman told me that the G6 was sold out and that it is discontinued, because of the development of the G7. anyone have any info on this?

The information is definitely true, but the G6 isn't going anywhere at the moment.

Neither retailer wants to get stuck wth inventory, so they've obviously sold-down their stock. There are plently of stores still carrying the G6 though...a lot of places have it for under $480...a relative bargin for such a good camera...

I would put my money down on August when Canon usually does their mid-year announcements. Expect the A530 and other goodies to appear at that time. It looks like there'll be no more Pro2 now.

I know this sounds out of the blue, but I wouldn't be surprised if Canon released a major firmware update for the 300D, unlocking those features, so that it can compete more readily with the D50.

The only thing stopping me from upping to a DSLR, no flip out LCD!
