Hello all,
I just wanted to share a couple last pics from my trip to the west coast of Florida (Clearwater/St. Pete area). I thought these pics were pretty interesting, especially the night shots (I didn't have a tripod...except the rail!!!) The night shot of the city is one that I have wanted to take for a while. I'm always in awe of the night shots posted here, so I've always wanted to try one. In the picture, it kinda looks as if I have a little flare in there which I thought was odd... but still satisfied. Thanks for lookin'!
Taken with Canon EF-S 18-55mm (kit lens) @ 1/640s, f/18, 55mm, ISO 800 (don't ask me why it was this fast...hehe)

Nice results but do post your lens in use as well as the cameras exposure settings for the images.
Thanks for sharing ... ;)

Outsiders may well think we are 'anoraks' for putting in all our settings - but imersing ourselves in them helps us to intuitively know what we are doing when it's important.!
Q B@LL ~I love the night shot! Did you use a star burst filter?
Keep them coming.

Thanks for all the comments guys!
Geoff: I really don't have any filters aside from the UV filter...hehe. That was just with the lens. Dunno why it came out like that, but it's interesting none the less :D
Bluedog: I don't really know what the problems are with the kit lens, but then again, I'm really just a novice in this stuff. Thanks again for the comments!

Hey again gang!
Just wanted to post another night and day shot that I took. The day shot was taken a few weeks ago and the night shot tonight. I've always wanted to take a pic of the Orlando "skyline" at night, but I don't like to walk around the park late at night...eeery at times.
Anyway, the pic is of Lake Eola, one of the many lakes in Orlando but at the heart of downtown. Any critiques are welcome! Thanks again!
Day Shot:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm (Kit Lens) @ f/5.6, 1/500s, 22mm, ISO 100

Thanks for the kind comments! I don't know much about lens quality let alone photography itself (don't think that I should really admit that) being that this is my first SLR camera, so I don't know that I would have chosen anything other than the kit lens. I've read all the different reviews and frankly, they didn't really make a difference in what I was going to get, mainly because I was on a budget and I've never had an SLR. But at this point, the quality of the pics I'm taking are satisfactory for me at this moment in time. As I become more aware of my camera and the art of photography itself, then I may venture into better lenses. But for now... it's all about what I can afford. Thanks again for the comments!

I am in the same boat with ya buddy. I have owned a Canon A95 and I am soon to be making the plunge into the world of DSLR by way of the 350. I am on a tight budget and its making lens selection difficult. I having been doing so much research I am about to go mad. but everyone has been so helpful here and I am glad I stumbled upon this wonderful resource... no pun..well okay maybe a little pun intended.
That's what we like to see...you're making the most of the kit lens and not sweating it. Great work...
