This didn't really fit in either the flowers or food threads. I was pleased with the composition, the outer shells of the garlic bulb adding some good shapes and "movement".

It's a good picture and makes a nice study - you could almost sit and paint that to look similer. I had to take a pictue of an apple cut in half as my son hd to draw one but can't even stand to be ear one. Love the black bakground - itreally makes it stand out.

Actually it fits on both threads. I stretched the flower thing to include an Olive branch becasue it looks like it belongs there. So does your vampire repeller.

Very nice. A 5 x 7 "framer" for the kitchen.

Thanks George and Geoff. I have tried various background effects and although it makes my shots a bit "samey" I do like the black background best. I think what attracts me is the isolation of the object i.e. a kind of macro portraiture.

Here's another shot from the deconstruction of the garlic - it tasted great caramelized in butter and olive oil as a quick and easy pasta sauce.

Excellent composition and the black background works very well. I also had pasta (rigatoni) tonight. For some reason, the Garlic tasted much better. ;) Excellent picture

Absolute art! It communicates much in form, color and balance. Very inspirational.

Hi Rory

Many thanks for your comments - this photo obviously struck a chord with you. What I like about this forum is that the images so often represent the way the photographers view and capture the world about them - all great personal communication.
