I have a Canon S50 with a 512MB CF card. When the camera formats the card, it seems to use FAT16. Would I be better off formatting the card with FAT32 in my system?

Any PC with FAT 32 or NTFS5 as a filing system will be able to read FAT16. This does indicate that since the S50 won't format automatically to FAT32 that the camera is unlikely to be able to use a memory card of over 2 GB size. If the card was formatted to FAT32 and the camera can still use it, that would beg the question - why did Canon set the camera to use FAT 16 in the first place.
