I just got the SD500 and on the LCD there is a red pixel. According to the manual it is a dead pixel and that is normal. Any one else have dead pixels on there LCD?

All manufacturers call it "normal." Exchange it unless it truly doesn't bug you. On a laptop or a gaming system, a pixel could go by unnoticed, but you'l be using the LCd a lot, and because they are low resolution, the dead pixels are a lot more noticeable.
One thing you should bear in mind is that this is NOT Canon's fault. All LCD manufacturers go through this and have to let these defective displays pass without thorough testing.

Yes, agree with Rex. If it truly bothers you, please replace it. Personally I can't stand these things.

agreed. it's normal, but you don't have to accept it. it's a defect in the LCD which won't affect the performance of your camera, but may affect your enjoyment and use of it. i have a hot pixel on my laptop, but it's got such a big screen i can get around it, and i'd rather not be without for long enough to get it fixed. an lcd is another matter. :)
I think that $500.00 USD entitles you to a perfect LCD. You didn't pay with any non-functioning money...why should you settle for a non-functioning pixel?
