Recommendations?

I need a digital camera that can take detailed pictures of clouds in a night sky. Size doesn't matter to me, as long as it can perform that function. If it could also take amazing scenery and night shots, that'd be great.

If possible, can anyone recommend cameras from the following price ranges?
1. up to $600
2. $601 to 1000

Your request is a bit like asking for a flying car. At night, there is very little light for the sensor to capture. To capture any image at night you need very long exposures ( 30 sec to several hours.)During a long exposure, the CCD in a digital camera generates heat resulting in digital camera noise in the file. Long exposures are an area that digital cameras are still severely deficient to film.

Have you had any luck capturing these detailed night shots with a film camera? Your best bet may be to shoot film, then make scans from your film.
