SD300 vs. A95 vs. A520

Hi. this is my first time on this forum and I think this is the right place where I could get some advices. Big dilema :what should i chose between them ?
i'd go for the a520 but i heard there are real problems with the red-eye efect... A95 is kind of old and the ixus 40 (SD300)has a fancy design which i think reduces the other important caractreistics of this camera (like picture quality).so wich one is better ? psl help me with your answers as soon as posible!

The A95 isn't very old (it's barely 6 months old!). It's clearly the best of those 3 cameras if you care about functionality and image quality.

You are trying to make an irrational comparison between cameras that serve two completely different purposes (the A line vs. the SD line). Using MY purely subjective menaing of "better", the A95 is definity, without question better. But, is it better for you and your purposes? Why are you buying a camera? What do you want from the camera? Sorry to sound so harsh, but if you took the time to think about these things before posting, people here would actually be able to help you out "better".

BTW, which tool is better...a hammer or a screwdriver?

Barca, if you read the reviews on these two cameras, it will tell you clearly what's good and not so good about each one. Then you need to decide what is important to you, as JTL says. Every camera choice is subjective, depending completely on what the user is looking for.

So far, next to no redeye in low-light flash photos with my new A520. I'm quite impressed actually, it's less than my film camera had.

I am a firsttimer to this site . and am interested in buying my first digital camera. Arter 1.5 months I zeroed in on A95 but these were the points to be noted:
1. Is the battery consumption of A-95 too high (4 AAs is heavy)

2. Zoom is 3x whereas in 520 its 4x and maths says that its always better to have higher zoom.

3. A95 is a bit old - is there any technological improvements in a 520? Other than SD cards. Is there any diff in usings CF(aa95) and SD (a520). How about the battery efficiencies?

How about the long distance, scenery shots in A-95 ---the samples seem to modified or plasit not natural ... Comments?

4. Wat's this E18 problem on A95 ?
Though I am a novice to photography - I do have intentions of doing a bit of ameture photographery (mainly nature shots). which model should I go for ....... the prices of both are now nearly same .........
I am in pendulum state swinging from one model to another. Please help ASAP.

The A95 takes 4 AAs, but they last a long time. I've been able to go out and take a couple hundred shots with heavy use of the LCD and flash, and I've yet to see the low battery indicator with a set of Energizer 2500 mAh (I always charge after an outing whether it's needed or not). I believe that the flash recharges a bit faster with 4 batteries (at least, that was my experience after playing with a a520)

I also like the extra weight that 4 batteries offers versus only 2. It gives me something a little more substantial to hold on to, but that's just personal preference.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I haven't noticed anything artificial-looking about any of my shots. I've taken quite a few scenery shots, and I've never noticed anything unusual about them.

I don't think there are any real improvements over the A95 aside from the reduced size. Another thing to consider is that the A95 has the flip-out LCD screen. I never thought I'd use it, but it has come in handy on numerous occasions. At the very least, it's nice to be able to fold the screen in so it's protected when not in use.
